Stephen A Smith ‘doesn’t give a sh**’ about Adam Silver’s $1.8 million All-Star tournament
Stephen A. Smith believes that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's plan for the All-Star Game with the new format will not work

Stephen A. Smith called out the new format of the All-Star game
Stephen A. Smith always goes viral for his brutally honest opinions about the NBA. The ESPN analyst never shies away from expressing his honest thoughts about the happenings in the league. As the NBA All-Star weekend is approaching, Smith has dropped another perspective. The analyst completely downplayed Commissioner Adam Silver’s plans for the upcoming event.
Lack of competitiveness has been an issue for the annual all-star matchups. To solve that problem, Adam Silver has invested a ton of money as far as $1.8 Million in the new format. Rather than just one game, the event will include three different games with a total of 24 players involved. Stephen A. Smith is not impressed by the developments at all. The analyst roasted the transformation on his YouTube channel.
“I’m not gonna lie to you, I don’t give a s***. It’s a waste of time. Because we know all of this is about effort,” Stephen A. Smith.
Smith believes that the format change strictly due to the lack of effort is unnecessary. ESPN’s analyst showed disappointment towards the players. The 57-year-old stated that bringing the change to motivate players to play seriously in front of the audience is an ‘embarrassment’ for the NBA. Smith firmly disapproved of the new format.
Few players including LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, and Jaylen Brown have acknowledged the absence of intensity of the All-Star games. Last year, despite the West having the top and most experienced players in the league, the team faced a record-breaking loss. The deficiency of defensive efforts has created frustrations for the viewers. Even with the format changes, Smith is unsure of the positive effect.
Stephen A. Smith also disapproved of the All-Star game starters
As soon as the All-Stars were announced, debates started in the NBA world. Considering the selection is based on fan votes, the voters were upset by the league’s choices. The inclusion of the Big 3 LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant over young players was highly criticized. Stephen A. Smith’s opinion is also on the same lines but the analyst has an issue with only one of the veterans.
Bearing in mind that Curry is the host this year, Smith expected the star to be a starter. However, the analyst had a problem with the snubs of Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Davis. Smith emphasized Wemby’s unreal stats this season and its effect on his team. Similarly, with Davis, the analyst wanted the LA forward to start alongside his teammate while keeping Durant out.
I think you have to think about Anthony Davis because he’s averaging 25 and 11. I’m not taking LeBron out. I would have to take Kevin Durant out. I understand he’s KD, and he’s sensational, and he’s missed 10 games due to injuries this year, but the Phoenix Suns ain’t that great.

After the trio’s chemistry in the 2024 Olympics caught attention, the league kept pushing its agenda. Despite fans being grateful to watch the legends play together, the repeated exposure might generate more criticism. But the league is working to make improvements with the new format. To make a judgment about these changes, the event in San Francisco will be highly anticipated.
