Recently, analyst Stephen A. Smith got heated up on ESPN’s First Take over a fake tweet. The parody account NBACentel posted a made-up Instagram story by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander about his exaggerated trade in exchange for Paul George. Smith called out the “unfair trade” while speaking with Shannon Sharpe.

The story was never actually posted by SGA, and the trade details are also not confirmed. Considering the position Smith is in, the irresponsible behavior by the analyst and the network was certainly something fans were not going to let go of.

Smith, on multiple occasions, has claimed to be a Gilgeous-Alexander fan and has also chosen the star for this year’s MVP award. Hence, getting upset by the far-fetched trade details was only a natural reaction from the analyst but not confirming news prior considering the tweet was posted a few days prior is recklessness on his part.
