Stephen A. Smith responded to Monica McNutt calling him out on national TV

Stephen A. Smith was left speechless on his own show by guest, Monica McNutt. The guest analyst did not hesitate as she called out Smith for not talking about women’s sports and the WNBA three years ago. McNutt came at Smith for not using his power to discuss topics regarding the WNBA by using the platform and power he has.

Stephen A. Smith was at a loss of words which is something that rarely happens. However, that did not last very long, as the analyst has already responded to the McNutt. Smith used his show to list the women who have been on First Take to show the support he has shown to women over the years.

Further, the analyst stated that people try to get on his negative side often which he is not bothered by. However, Smith finds it offensive when people call him out with inaccurate accusations. Which is what McNutt did according to Smith.

It is highly offensive to me when somebody implies or flat-out states like Monica McNutt did this morning. Which was factually incorrect. I challenge anybody to find a show that supports television, that discusses women issues, that discusses the WNBA or women's sports. That highlights and profiles female analysts more than First Take.

Smith went on to talk about the incident for most of his show as he also revealed the reason he was left speechless. The analyst stated that he did not want to go ‘nuclear’ on McNutt who he considers a wonderful woman. Smith was certainly enraged with the situation and what it became as he defended himself throughout the episode.

As McNutt accused Smith of not covering women’s sports and the WNBA, Smith was deeply offended. The analyst confidently stated that all her accusations were wrong however, the internet did not feel the same. As many came in support of McNutt for calling Smith out, the basketball netizens did their job by bringing back an old tweet by Smith.

Fans found a tweet from 2009 in which Smith called out the women for their lack of popularity. As McNutt called out the ESPN analyst for his WNBA coverage before Caitlin Clark arrived, the tweet itself backed up her claim.

The post quickly went viral as fans were in splits by Smith’s hypocrisy. As the tweet finds more audience, Smith certainly will be in hot waters more than he already is. Fans have also started having doubts about McNutt’s return to the show after the incident.
