Now that the contenders for Super Bowl LIX are set, the focus has shifted to how the Philadelphia Eagles will battle the Kansas City Chiefs. Both sides have elite squads, bringing the difference down to how Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes fare against each other’s stud defenses.
The Kansas City Chiefs defense has shown that they can stop the best of the best. They stopped Josh Allen from completely breaching the 1st down marker and also stopped his teammates from crossing the line quite a few times.
Officials did end up helping them, but at least they got themselves into those positions to benefit from confusion. Therefore, questions are being asked on if Jalen Hurts can battle against that vaunted Chiefs defense.
Former Super Bowl champion Jeff Saturday thinks the Eagles QB might not have been spectacular, but his game has been good enough for his team to keep winning and does not deserve criticism. However, Saturday’s esteemed colleague Stephen A. Smith disagreed.

The longtime ESPN analyst feels Jalen Hurts cannot just rely on Saquon Barkley to keep the offense going. Nor can he rely on just throwing for under 200 yards as he has done in eight games this season. Smith believes Hurts has to do a lot more to beat Patrick Mahomes.
Stephen A. Smith’s colleagues think criticism follows Jalen Hurts
That concept of Saquon Barkley leading the Philadelphia Eagles has been a staple this past regular season. He broke the 2000 rushing yard mark and helped the team to a 14-3 record. Stephen A. Smith’s colleagues feel this could lead the criticisms against Jalen Hurts.
The Hall of Famer added this after Jeff Saturday and Molly Qerim clarified that Jalen Hurts will receive criticism even if he does not play well in Super Bowl LIX. If he does and the Eagles lose, Hurts will bear the brunt of the blame.
Therefore, they believe the game will have to be balanced between the pass and the run game if Jalen Hurts has to finally be seen as an elite quarterback. But as Stephen A. Smith said, Hurts will have to come out with something that will make people believe he is elite.
