Stephen A. Smith doesn’t blame Dak Prescott over the Dallas Cowboys’ recent loss. Well, that’s a shocker! After a splashy victory in the season-opener, the Cowboys couldn’t keep up in week 2 and broke their 16-game winning streak at the home stadium after felling at an embarrassing 44-19 loss against the New Orleans Saints.

Posting 27-of-37 passes for 293 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, quarterback Prescott came under scrutiny for his rough outing and the offense struggle. However, ESPN’s analyst Smith refused to point the figure at the three-time Pro Bowler as he lashed out at the Cowboys in the recent episode of First Take.

The Dallas Cowboys were awful. This is a rarity, we can’t blame this loss on Dak Prescott at all. This ain’t about Dak Prescott in the offense. They scored on four of their five drives although three were field goals…. This ain’t about the offense. This ain’t a discussion today about Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys offense– they were put in a bad spot.
Stephen A. Smith said

Smith took the blame from Prescott and the Cowboys offense and shifted it on the team’s defense, which allowed the Saints– who is considered an average team in the league, to score six touchdowns, five of which were 69 yards and more.

This is the first time in 56 years that a team allowed 44+ points in consecutive home games. The last team to do it was Pittsburgh Steelers in 1968!
Stephen A. Smith added

Smith condemned the Cowboys’ loss against the Saints by calling it an “atrocity” by them after losing a home game in the playoffs against the seven-seeded team Green Bay Packers and then, doing it again this season– crushing the fans’ hopes.

Dak Prescott stays optimistic after Cowboys’ disappointing performance

After the fabulous victory against the Cleveland Browns in week 1, when the Cowboys couldn’t perform in this week, they again came under scrutiny. However, Prescott who recently became the highest-paid quarterback in history, didn’t lose hope and instead called this loss just a “bump” on the road.

This is just a bump in the road. We've got a lot of football ahead of us. The season isn't over after two games, and we're going to show that
Dak Prescott said while taking responsibility for the loss

Even though the star quarterback’s confidence in the team remains steady, it would become vain if they couldn’t recover from his embarrassing loss next week when they would be facing last season’s AFC top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.
