Stephen A. Smith seems to have found himself in an awkward moment with colleague Molly Qerim when he raised his self-aggrandizement to an entirely different level. Though the ESPN analyst has always been the one to highlight his own achievement, this time, his words made his colleague almost spit out.

The latest edition of ESPN’s First Take began with a broad discussion on the villain narrative surrounding the two-time Super Bowl champions, who are now headed for their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance. In an effort to commend the elite quarterback Patrick Mahomes for embracing the villain narrative, Smith seems to have exaggerated his own significance by claiming to relate to the Kansas City Chiefs QB.

Listen, listen, I would know something about that. I’m considered one of the most annoying people in television

Stephen A. Smith claimed

Before he could elaborate further, he was awkwardly interrupted by co-hosts Louis Riddick and Dan Orlovsky, who burst into laughter, but Qerim totally stole the show as she unexpectedly spat out the drink in her mouth in a fit of laughter.

I’ve never done this in my kajillion years on TV. I spit out straight out my mouth and I apologize to America. Oh my gosh. Stephen A. and I have never gotten along more. Oh my goodness. That was hilarious

Molly Qerim explained the moment, while Orlovsly helped her clean up her desk

Ignoring the awkward moment, Smith continued making his case, showing unwavering confidence in himself and stating that he is not fazed by the hatred he gets just like the Chiefs, and would continue winning like he always has.

Stephen A. Smith suggests Patrick Mahomes could surpass Tom Brady with a third title

Since he compared himself to Mahomes, it’s obvious that the ESPN analyst keeps the three-time Super Bowl champion on a high pedestal. Some may say, even above the legend Tom Brady as Smith has firmly affirmed that the Chiefs’ superstar quarterback will dethrone Brady from the crown of Greatest of All Time if he wins the Super Bowl for the third consecutive time.

When you look at what he has accomplished in first seven years of his career, if this man ends up doing something in his first seven years that has never achieved in the history of the National Football League, which means winning back-to-back-to-back, three-peating as Super Bowl champions… I don’t see how you can put anybody ahead of Patrick Mahomes

Stephen A. Smith asserted

As far as the villain narrative is concerned, Smith also argued that the Chiefs shouldn’t be viewed like that in the conventional sense; instead, their ongoing success seems to simply lead to a phenomenon known as Chiefs’ fatigue.
