The Washington Commanders pulled off the upset of the year as they beat the Detroit Lions 45-31. The Lions’ offense, which has remained dominant for the entire regular season was unable to get things going and Jared Goff struggled as he threw 3 interceptions and 1 touchdown.
The star of the night was rookie Jayden Daniels who played with the composure of a veteran and led his team to yet another post-season win. His performance was convincing enough for veteran analyst Stephen A. Smith to believe he could lead this team to a Super Bowl win in his first year.
Stephen A. was in awe of the performance put up by the rookie. He put up 299 yards passing, threw 2 touchdown passes, and rushed for 51 yards. Those numbers are impressive but there is a caveat.
Jayden Daniels will face a more elite defense in the NFC Championship
The Lions were ill-fated. There is no other way to put it. Stephen A. Smith acknowledged the fact that the Divisional Round loss was not on Dan Campbell and neither was it on Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson. They lost because Jared Goff failed to deliver and the Detroit defense was running on fumes.
The Lions had 13 of their starters on defense on injured reserve. The team had to rely on sixth-string players and started an undrafted rookie who spent the majority of the season on the practice squad. It was up to the offense to be at the top of their game and that did not happen. Jayden Daniels took advantage of the short-staffed Lions’ defense and torched them.
"I ain't going to lie to y'all, this brother could [win the Super Bowl]." 👀

This does not mean he got lucky but if he does stand a chance to win the Super Bowl, the quarterback will need to be prepared to go up against more aggressive defenses. The Commanders will now face their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. Philly’s defense has been phenomenal and they will push the rookie quarterback to his limits.
