Stephen A. Smith has emerged as a possible Presidential Candidate

The Democratic Party was handed a resounding verdict in the 2024 US Presidential Elections, with Republican Candidate Donald Trump handily winning the popular polls. As the Democratic Party looks to regroup ahead of the 2028 US Presidential elections, one name that has emerged as a possible candidate is ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

Smith has been one of the leading sports analysts across the nation and is set to become one of the highest-paid sportscasters ever. However, his divergence into politics has not gone unnoticed after several appearances on news debates regarding the current political atmosphere. This has led to the 57-year-old sportscaster being considered one of the possible candidates for the next election cycle.

This was news in itself to Stephen A. Smith, who had a hilarious reaction to the reports surrounding his possible candidature for the Democratic Party. He posted a two-word reply on X, questioning the legitimacy of the early poll numbers reported by Trump’s former pollster John McLaughlin, as he was surprised to see his name listed as a presidential candidate.

“Not Centel?” Smith wrote on X.

According to the report by Front Office Sports, Stephen A. Smith secured 2% of the vote share, ahead of major names in American Politics, such as former Presidential Candidate Beto O’Rourke and Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker. Although Smith does not seem overly enthusiastic, it would be interesting to see if he ever considers turning heel and switching over to politics as a realistic path.

Stephen A. Smith may consider Presidential bid under one condition

In the past, Stephen A. Smith has been very clear about his political ambitions, more specifically, his lack so of. However, even though Smith does not believe he would like to enter the dicey realm of politics, he has just one condition that could draw him to stand for a realistic bid for a seat in the Oval Office. What is that condition, you may ask? A real shot at becoming the President of the United States of America.

I have no desire to be a congressional figure or a senator, but if you came to me and you told me I had a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States of America, I would definitely consider it

Smith said in a November 2024 appearance on ABC’s ‘The View.’

Surprisingly, this is not a heel turn from Smith, who has made his stance on entering politics fairly clear in the past. In 2022, during an appearance on the Paul Finebaum show, Smith expressed the same views, claiming that he would only dare to step into the world of politics if it meant that he would be headed towards becoming the Head of the State.

With three more years to go until the next election cycle, it is difficult to say with certainty whether Smith could continue to make inroads in his election campaign, but McLaughlin’s survey certainly suggests that no dream is too small – if Stephen A. Smith dares to dream it.
