Amidst the ongoing MVP debate between Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, another quarterback has emerged as everyone’s favorite, climbing up the ladder for the coveted MVP honor– Jared Goff. So believes sports analyst Stephen A. Smith

Goff’s development as a franchise quarterback with the Detroit Lions is truly one that needs to be studied. He continues achieving consistency while also improving his efficiency leading the Lions to seven victories out in the last eight games– the first time since 1956.

His standout play, particularly following the Lions’ astounding victory against the Green Bay Packers, has not gone unnoticed by the pundits. During the recent episode of ESPN’s First Take, Smith expressed his strong feelings about the two-time Pro Bowler and already named him the “MVP” for this season while ignoring Mahomes and Jackson.

[Jared] Goff has the highest completion percentage of 82.2 percent and a passer rating of 140.1 for any quarterback in any six-game span in NFL history. History! That’s what we’re talking about. So I wouldn’t hear anybody argue with me when I say that Jared Goff is the MVP. Not when we see what this man has been doing over these last six weeks. If the MVP were today, Jared Goff has to get MVP.

According to the latest NFL MVP odds by FanDuel Sportsbook, Goff has been tied with the three-time Super Bowl champion with an undefeated record this season, at +700. In the last eight games, he has recorded 211 passes for 1,840 yards, 14 touchdowns, 4 interceptions and 75 completion percentage.

Dan Campbell issues league-wide warning after Lions’ impressive win

Heading into their first road game against the Packers, the Lions were not favored to win because of the alien weather conditions. But after taking control of the field from the first quarter, quarterback Goff led his team to a dominating 24-14 victory. Head coach Dan Campbell, who was self-impressed by the win, issued a warning for the entire league.

We’re built for this, man. It doesn’t matter just because we play indoors. It doesn’t matter. We can play anywhere. We can play in the snow, we play in the rain, we play in the mud. That’s just us. We are built to win, man

Dan Campbell asserted in the post-game press conference

Campbell also appreciated his team for the remarkable play, especially the star signal-caller taking care of the ball. The HC credited the victory particularly to Goff, by stating that he made a “big difference” by taking the responsibility of the football upon his shoulder.

Campbell’s team will aim to keep its lead in the conference and improve to 8-1 with a win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.
