The former FOX News anchor reminded him that if Donald Trump could become the President twice without being in politics, so can he. After that, an investigative podcast conducted a poll which revealed that the ESPN analyst had gained a lot of ground in terms of his popularity.

One of the reasons his popularity has surged is that Smith has slammed Democratic leaders for not understanding what the people need. With all that in mind and how the current political climate in the country affecting the lives of everyone, he has changed his stance.

Time to stop messing around. Life is great. Especially at ESPN/Disney. Hate the thought of being a politician. But sick of this mess. So, I’m officially leaving all doors open

This change of stance suggests he believes he has a chance. It could be that he is confident that he can defeat all Democratic candidates. At the same time, he might also believe that the current state of the nation will be detrimental for the Republicans in 2028.

Stephen A. Smith has been garnering a lot of support

Being popular is one thing, and entering politics is another. Many have tried to enter politics based on just popularity and failed. Stephen A. Smith knows this all too well, as politics requires support from those in positions of power. But something has changed over the course of the past few months, which led him to take this step.

I’ve been approached by people on Capitol Hill. I’ve been approached by people who are elected officials in office, whether it’s governors or mayors or what have you. People have legitimately, seriously, asked me about it.

The ESPN analyst was at the NAB Show in Las Vegas where he was asked about his political ambitions. This response seems to suggest that he has been meeting with people who have the power to support him.

Along with a supposed push from his employer, Walt Disney Company, he might be looking at placing together a legitimate push towards running for Presidency in 2028. But he insists, he is not a typical politician.

Smith believes he is not a typical politician

Stephen A. Smith might be interested in running for President come 2028. But he knows how politicians work. He has seen enough examples throughout his life that he wants to distance himself from a typical politician.

I’ve always perceived politicians as being professional beggars. I don’t say that derogatorily or anything like that. It’s just the reality. You’ve always got your hand out for something. People always need favors in return. I’m not that guy. So, I could never see myself as a politician.

Stephen A. Smith said

The 57-year-old believes once he has to ask for favors, it will make him a typical politician. He knows that strategy usually means he will have to return the favor in some way or the other. That could potentially dilute what he believes he can do for the United States of America.
