Stephen A. Smith had the best seat in the house to watch the Dallas Cowboys’ miserable performance against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday (November 3). The ESPN cameras caught Smith sitting next to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones inside the VIP suite.

Smith did not flinch even after the Cardinals took a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter. The camera crews’ frequent attempts to record a reaction from Smith went down the drain. All they caught was Smith’s perfectly crafted poker face.

His patience finally wore out after the Cowboys’ tight end Jake Ferguson turned the ball over to the Cardinals. Smith stood up, shook Jones’ hand, exchanged pleasantries, and left.

Joe Buck, who was in the announcers’ booth, did a hilarious running commentary on his ESPN colleague’s departure from the VIP suite.

They say a picture is worth one billion words. There it is. Stephen A. is like, ‘Alright, good luck. I’m outta here. I’m gonna go post on social media.

Ironically, the Cowboys scored their first points shortly after. The Cowboys blocked the Cardinals’ punt on the ensuing play. Defensive end Sam Williams charged in to complete the block. Marshawn Kneeland recovered the ball inside the end zone for a touchdown after it ricocheted off Williams’ hands.

The Cowboys were the betting favorites to secure a win over the Cardinals despite losing last week’s fixture in Denver. As both the Commanders and the Giants dropped points this week, it was the right time to gain some ground on the Eagles in the division.

Let’s face it, bettors are not always correct in their assessment, and Monday night’s result was one heck of an example. To start off, Dallas trailed 17-7 in Jerry-land. Veteran Jacoby Brissett rubbed salt on the wound by completing a 1-yard touchdown right before the halftime break.

It got worse after the restart. Brissett found his ever-reliable tight end, Trey McBride, three minutes into the third quarter, extending their lead to 17 points.

Dallas kicker Brandon Aubrey and Arizona’s Chad Ryland exchanged 3-pointers, leaving the Cowboys with the mammoth task of scoring at least twenty in the final fifteen minutes for the win.

The best the Cowboys could manage was a 5-yard score from wide receiver Ryan Flournoy. Desperation caused Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott to throw an interception, essentially sealing the ballgame for the Cardinals.

The contest in Dallas ended in a 27-17 win for the Cardinals, leaving Jerry Jones’ Cowboys on 3-5-1 as they head into the bye week.

Prescott threw 24 completions from 39 attempts for 250 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens combined for 13 catches and 160+ yards.

As for the Cardinals, Brissett completed 21 passes from 31 attempts for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Jones hinted that he’s not planning on any immediate trade for a defender. The Athletic’s Jon Machota tweeted,

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is walking back a bit on the trade talk he was discussing earlier in the day. It’s still possible, but he doesn’t sound as convicted about it. He has no interest in trading away any of their current players. “I like our nuts and bolts a lot.”

The trade deadline closes on November 4. One of the Cowboys’ key pass-rushing targets, Jalen Phillips, was poached by the Eagles, leading many to believe that Jones could go after Trey Hendrickson from Cincinnati. However, it remains to be seen whether Jones actually makes the move.
