Stephen A. Smith SLAMS P Diddy for deleting physical abuse accusations apology video
P Diddy was close to many in the sporting world, but they have become distant since the allegations came out.
Stephen A. Smith and P Diddy
Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs has been having a harrowing time of late. After a video leaked showing how he physically abused his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, his reputation went further downhill. Diddy came out with an apology video that seemed to stem the tide of negativity towards him ever so slightly. But he ended up deleting the video which has seen him face a lot of backlash.
This prompted Stephen A. Smith to question the record producer’s mindset. He took to his podcast, The Stephen A. Smith Show to discuss this latest incident.
Diddy, why did you delete that video of the apology. Delete everything else, not that. Don’t you want people to know that you were contrite? That you were incredibly sorry? That you have profound regret for the egregious actions that you were caught on camera committing? By deleting the video, you throw all of that out the window...It comes across as you wanted to erase everything.Stephen A. Smith said
Stephen A. Smith was clear in suggesting that P Diddy should have kept that one apology video. Instead, now that the apology is no longer available, it will further put him in a bad light. Cassie Ventura and P Diddy were in a long relationship. However, in late 2023 she filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against him for s*xual assault. Diddy settled the matter out of court. However, in 2024 the video showing the Grammy Award-winning artist physically assaulting Ventura in a hotel came out.
The incident might be from 2016, but it was proof of several serious accusations Diddy has been facing for quite some time. Now by deleting the apology video, he will not be able to fix his reputation.
Sporting world has distanced themselves from P Diddy
Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit was just the start. After she reached a settlement, 3 more lawsuits were filed against P Diddy. In 2024, the Department of Homeland Security raided several of Diddy’s properties as part of an ongoing investigation. Seeing this, brands and companies stopped associating themselves with the record executive.
Along with them were the who’s who of the sporting world. LeBron James, who was very close with the rapper has been quiet about the whole situation so far. NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes deleted posts related to Diddy. Add to this, Diddy became the butt of jokes in the NBA and other sports. With many using his name as a reference for s*xual preferences and misdemeanors.
Knowing all this is why Stephen A. Smith asked P Diddy why he deleted the apology video. After all, it was the last bit to keeping his respect. But it seems that the boat has sailed for the once largely respected artist.
