Stephen A. Smith shouting “Stay off the weeeeed!” in the White House? A year ago, that would’ve been pure parody. Today, the odds are uncomfortably real. A January poll from McLaughlin & Associates revealed the vote distribution among Democratic candidates.
While former Vice President Kamala Harris proved to be the clear frontrunner, following her was Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg with 9%, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom with 7%, and Stephen A. Smith who received 2% of the votes in the poll.
That was unexpected, but it boosted his confidence and the analyst who has been outspoken on issues pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion is certain that if he launches a full-fledged campaign, he will win. However, in a recent interview with Front Office Sports, Smith took a step back from his political aspirations.
Stephen A. Smith has no interest in pursuing a political career
The analyst believes that this is not a path in which he has much interest in heading down. Smith elaborated on the reasons that drove him away from pursuing a political career.
The analyst does not like to sugarcoat his opinions on particular subjects and he says it like it is. While this sounds like an admirable trait, it is frowned upon in the political sphere.
In order to appease voters, the candidates are required to either steer clear of certain topics or express neutrality on sensitive issues in order to avoid losing a section of voters. That goes against the principles of Stephen A. Smith.

However, the analyst believes that knowledge does not have much of a weight in determining the winner of the Presidential position. He took a jibe at President Donald Trump by stating that he does not possess the knowledge for the job either.
Politics is never about who is the most qualified candidate for the job. It is about which candidate can make the most promises and lead the masses to dream of a better tomorrow. It is a complex game that Stephen A. does not want to dip his toes into. He has no reason to either. With a new record-breaking contract on the way, Smith has enough to retire and lead a comfortable life.
