Stephen A. Smith uses the chance with Paul George's presence to throw shade at Los Angeles Clippers teammate Kawhi Leonard

Stephen A. Smith has been critical of Kawhi Leonard and his unavailability for some time. A situation that Smith believes, has stopped the Los Angeles Clippers from achieving the success their superstar laden roster was constructed to do. Today, before Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Smith took advantage of Paul George‘s presence to take another shot at Leonard.

Paul George was a guest analyst in tonight’s NBA Finals Game 3 pre-game show. While talking about playing with superstars, Stephen A. Smith sensed an opportunity and took it.

Nobody on the planet knows what it’s like to play without a star than Paul George.

George and the rest of the panel instantly broke into a laugh. The Los Angeles Clippers superstar knew what Smith meant by that and pointed out.

Don't do that. I'm excited for my dog. We stand for business.

But while still continuing to laugh about it. George knows it was a direct and yet hilarious take on what has transpired with the Clippers.

Stephen A. Smith talked about Kawhi Leonard and his unavailability for the Los Angeles Clippers in a rant he went on a few weeks back. The point he made was that the two-time NBA Champion has never been available due to injuries during the playoffs.

That in itself has left the Clippers having playoff disappointments ever since he signed on as a free agent in 2019. Paul George has seen the NBA title hopes to fade away every season. Which could be the reason he is reported to want to leave the Clippers.

Paul George has options on the table

The 9-time All-Star is 34 years old and knows that whatever next he chooses might be the last contract of his career. Which means he has to prioritize what he wants to achieve in life. Having earned more than $300 million in his career, money is not a problem for George. But winning a title will cement his legacy.

But for that, he needs to be on a team where the other superstars can remain healthy. The Philadelphia 76ers have been touted as one such destination. They have Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, along with a lot of cap space and free agents to sign. A brilliant situation considering they have two superstars but have the benefit of starting from scratch.

George is a California native, and the Los Angeles Clippers could offer him a massive increment over his current pay to stay at home. However, even he knows his chances of a title are better with a retooling 76ers with Embiid than his current oft injured teammate.
