Stephen A. Smith warns fans over alleged AI video of him cussing Kevin Durant spreads

Stephen A. Smith and Kevin Durant

Due to various reasons, Stephen A. Smith has lately become a household name. His spat with LeBron James brought out some heated back-and-forth’s between the two, and till now fans are debating who came out on top from that discourse.

Now the discourse has died down, but fans are still on the lookout for videos which show Smith in a bad light. For instance, an old video of JJ Redick shutting down Smith’s notion of players not fearing LeBron James has further dampened the logic the ESPN analyst puts forward every day.

YouTube video

Stephen A. Smith is probably aware of all the digging fans are doing. He is constantly in the news regarding his political news as well, and therefore, probably has a team scanning social media for any negative discourse surrounding him. Earlier today, he wrote this on his X account.

There is some b.s. floating around on Instagram with me talking about Kevin Durant — using profanity, cussing him out, etc. For the record, that is a LIE. It is A.I Generated or something. I just letting everyone know ahead of time…..THAT WAS NOT ME! No truth to it. Just so everyone knows. Complete Fabrication.

It is unclear what video Smith is referring to. But it must be something that triggered him to write this post. The 57-year-old knows Kevin Durant is not one to back down from replying to anyone. Any new negativity driven discourse will impact him more than ever.

Stephen A. Smith taking precautions

During that back-and-forth between Stephen A. Smith and LeBron James, the former tried to question the character of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar. In that attempt, he used incorrect information surrounding James’ appearances at Kobe Bryant‘s memorial and Dwyane Wade‘s Hall of Fame ceremony.

As soon as he mentioned these events, fans and fellow media members corrected him. They gave proof that James was indeed at Bryant’s memorial, which forced Smith to issue an apology. That apology along with his earlier calls to want to punch James, tilted the discourse towards the Lakers superstar.

The recently extended ESPN analyst lost a lot of face and even his friends in the media believed he lost the plot. Using incorrect information to try and get one over one of the biggest superstars in the world of sports made him look like a hater.

It could be that now Smith does not want another slip up. Both his career at ESPN as well as his political ambitions are at stake. That is why even his ESPN takes are less controversial off late. Excepting one where he talked about Steph Curry.

Smith’s colleague hits back at Steph Curry past era narrative

In Wednesday’s episode of First Take, Stephen A. Smith brought up a comment from an unnamed Hall of Famer about how his era would ‘hurt’ Steph Curry. This discussion again brought out some choice comments from fans as well as former players. Now Smith’s colleague Jay Williams offers his opinion.

Stephen A …. you’re too smart to keep pushing barbershop hearsay like it’s fact. “A Hall of Famer told me Steph wouldn’t average more than 17”? C’mon. Name names or don’t bring it to the table. Steph Curry broke basketball. He didn’t just adapt to this era — he created it. So, let’s stop using anonymous ghosts of the past to discredit the present.

Jay Williams wrote

Williams specifically mentioned that Smith should refrain from bringing up past players to discredit the present. It is the same opinion First Take host Molly Qerim brought up. If this notion starts to gain traction, it could paint Smith’s reputation as a proverbial hater.
