The 2024-25 NBA season is on the horizon, with the first match kicking off on October 22nd, 2024. Interestingly, many experts and analysts have shared their opinions and take on their favorite teams and players. Stephen A. Smith is one of them.

Recently, Tennessee State students posed questions to Smith, Shannon Sharpe, and Cam Newton, co-hosts of the First Take Show. When one student questioned whether the Memphis Grizzlies would be superior to the Los Angeles Lakers, the three gave a resounding opinion.

However, Smith’s answer was a bit different as he seemingly chose the Lakers but with a twist. Smith praised the Grizzlies’ star player Ja Morant, saying that he will have ‘havoc of a season’ and warned the rest of the NBA to keep an eye on him.

Ja Morant is going to wreak havoc… He’s going to hurt a lot of people in the league reminding everybody just who the hell he is. But I don’t think Memphis has enough.

Smith is known for his unusual and controversial takes in and around the NBA. Many fans seemed to agree with this particular take regarding Morant. Due to a suspension and a shoulder injury that ended his previous season, the guard only participated in nine games in the 2023-24 campaign.

Another NBA analyst heaps praise on Ja Morant

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been making the headlines lately as he returns to the court after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury last season. Former NBA player and now-ESPN host Richard Jefferson was full of praise for Morant ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. Jefferson gave a clear ‘warning’ to the NBA, stating ‘Don’t forget who Ja Morant is.’

I’m gonna say Ja Morant. This was a team that was trending upward. They were the OKC Thunder two seasons ago. Obviously, there have been injuries and there have been a lot of things that have gone on within the organization. But don’t forget who Ja Morant is.
