Stephen A. Smith slams LeBron James for confrontation
Right now, some of the hottest names circling the NBA are LeBron James and Stephen A. Smith. Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers superstar confronted the ESPN analyst publicly, media and fans have been watching the situation closely.
On one hand, Smith revealed what LeBron James said to him during that argument. At the same time, he clarified that he was fine with it as the Lakers superstar confronted him as a father over comments made about his son Bronny James.
On First Take, Smith was adamant that he did not speak any ill towards the Los Angeles Lakers rookie. Rather, he wanted the star to take his time, develop his game, and then come back to the first team after earning his place.
But then, leaked audio from a conversation between the all-time leading scorer and his close friend and ESPN employee Richard Jefferson gave Stephen A. Smith the idea that the confrontation was not about Bronny James. Rather, it was a deflected tirade concerning the 40-year-old superstar himself.
I wasn’t talking about your son…I’m talking about your a**. You did this. You the one that had us as reporters, as a league. All of us had to sit back and be quiet and capitulate to your s***, you did that!

My thing about SAS is he said exactly 0 of this to LeBron when he was in his face. By his own admission. Lol

Stephen A did the only thing he should have done, stay quiet and say ok, Lebron. That's where it should have ended. Now he's on a 2 week tour doubling down.

The issue is SAS thinks he’s an equal to athletes and feels he should be allowed to say whatever he wants and have the respect the players have for each other.

If Jordan or Kobe would have done it, all you would hear it how competitive they are and their killer mentality.

It’s on-site Bron! You know what you did Stevie. Playing clips in the background and addressing LeBrons parenting.

Smith doubles down on his view of controversy
But it seems that is not bothering Smith. He has just signed a massive $100 million contract and knows his reputation is at stake. With news that players are not willing to talk to him, the 57-year-old is doubling down on what he felt.
I thought it was weak. I thought it was some bulls**t.
Stephen A. Smith said
He believes LeBron James was wrong in the manner in which he was confronted. It was the day when his new contract was announced, and he was sitting alongside his agencies founder courtside. They were there to celebrate the occasion with a trip to watch Smith’s New York Knicks.

Considering all that, no one would like to be berated in public. As Smith mentioned, if a clip of that interaction did not spread like wildfire, he might not have talked about it. But since that clip blew up all over the internet, the analyst knew his reputation was at stake.
