Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson, a former NFL player, has a funny nature on and off the field. Notably, he shares a great bond with LeBron James. In addition, Johnson is also a co-host on Stephen A. Smith‘s First Take show. Not only that, he also appears on various podcasts to talk about multiple sports topics, like the NightCap Show.

Recently, James made NBA history. He is the first player to achieve the 50,000 career point milestone, currently having 50,022 points. After this, Johnson took to X to reveal that James gave him the iconic ’50 thousand point ball’ and thanked the Lakers legend for his ‘genorisity.’ He also claimed that he would reveal the ball on the ‘NightCap Show.’

Whether Chad has the game ball from this is currently unknown. He did express his desire for the ball on “First Take” alongside co-host Stephen A. Smith. This plot will probably be followed up on in a future “Nightcap” episode alongside another former NFL player, Shannon Sharpe. Fans will be waiting to see if there is some truth in Johnson’s words or not.

As for LeBron James, he is already the NBA’s all-time top scorer and has redefined basketball longevity. He leads in both the regular season and the playoffs, which is significant. James has equaled Vince Carter for the most points “played” in NBA history in addition to scoring 50,000 points in his 22nd season.

Not the first time Chad Johnson claimed he was ‘gifted’ James’ iconic ball

LeBron James became the first NBA player to reach 40,000 career points in March 2024 against the Denver Nuggets. Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson revealed the ‘Nightcap’ co-host Shannon Sharpe the claimed gift James gave him for reaching the milestone a few days later.

“Ocho” claimed that before the game against the Denver Nuggets, he sent James a tweet asking for the 40,000-point milestone game ball. Johnson said James unexpectedly agreed and then showed the audience the ‘signed’ game ball on the NightCap show that James had allegedly handed him. However, it was all a farce.

The Ball had LeBron James’s signature inscribed on it. Moments later, Johnson with a smile on his face, turned to face the camera. But “Ocho” had just scrawled “LeBron James 40k points” on the ball himself, and the two of them started chuckling. Now, a year later, Ocho seems to be doing something similar after James scored his 50,000th point against the Pelicans.
