The Golden State Warriors brought in Jimmy Butler via trade to assist Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, along with the rest of the younger players, to another NBA championship.
All four titles of this past decade came when three or more of their best players were humming about on the floor. After Klay Thompson left, it became evident that the team needed someone to shoulder the burden. Hence, the blockbuster trade with the Miami Heat came about last season.
Last year, Curry’s hamstring injury stopped them from fulfilling their goal. This season, after a bumpy ride in November and December, the team was just starting to get to grips with playing consistently good basketball.
Then, on January 19th, ironically, while playing against the Heat, Jimmy Butler tore his ACL, ending his season. Stephen Curry looked distraught, even though Draymond Green was trying to keep a brave face.
With the Apron rules in place, there is no way the Warriors can trade for another star without moving Butler’s contract, which in itself is a major hurdle. Keeping this in mind, NBA champion Paul Pierce said this:
Let’s have a conversation. Let’s go into the room and ask them what do y’all want to do? Because if y’all feel like y’all can win somewhere else, or do you want to ride out the ship and let them make that decision?

The Hall of Famer believes that the Warriors should have that conversation, as they should prioritize the needs of the two who have given so much success to the franchise. However, it is unlikely that either of them leave.
Stephen Curry was visibly unhappy after recent loss
The Golden State Warriors went on to win that game against the Miami Heat. That was their fourth straight win, and could have started a run that should have helped them climb the Western Conference ladder.

Instead, the franchise lost its next two games, one to the inconsistent Toronto Raptors and the other to a Dallas Mavericks team that had just started to win games here and there.
The Toronto loss was on a team that was just getting acclimatized to playing without Jimmy Butler. However, the loss to Klay Thompson’s Mavericks was frustrating.
When the home team took the lead before halftime, the Warriors responded with their trademark third-quarter burst. Then, towards the end, the Mavs outplayed them with a score of 123-115.
After such a disappointing loss, Stephen Curry was shaking his head on the bench, using a towel to potentially wipe off tears from his eyes.

Maybe Paul Pierce was speaking on those lines, as there is no worse sight than to watch the 37-year-old Warriors superstar suffer, and see his hopes of competing at the highest level fade away.
Dillon Brooks gives Stephen Curry his respect
Even if the Warriors allow Stephen Curry to join any other team, it is hard to imagine that he wants to leave the franchise that has helped him become the global superstar that he is.
I like playing against Curry. It’s a marathon. He’s a special player because you need 5 guys to guard him.
Dillon Brooks said on Agent’s live stream
This is a mark of respect from one of the league’s toughest defenders. Dillon Brooks, who had to resort to a cheap shot to try to slow down Stephen Curry, knows well what it takes to defend against him.

If this is what he has achieved with the Warriors, it is hard to envision him trying to do it with another. The system suits his playing style, and he might not get it elsewhere, even if the head coach is from Steve Kerr‘s coaching tree.
