Stephen Curry and flagrant fouls are two words that have never co-existed in a single sentence before. But that is exactly what happened on Tuesday as the Golden State Warriors suffered a humiliating 126-102 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Paycom Center. The foul occurred at the end of the first quarter.
It was Curry’s first flagrant foul in his 17-year long career which has spanned for 1,193 games. The 37-year-old recklessly stepped into the landing zone while trying to close out Isaiah Joe’s three-point attempt with 1.3 seconds left to the first quarter. The foul was deemed as dangerous as it could have led to a potential injury due to the result of the contact.

The Warriors star had a rough night defensively as he picked up five fouls just two minutes into the second half. It did not matter much as the Thunder headed into the fourth quarter with a 35-point lead in which reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 28 points to go along with 11 assists.
It has been a rough period for the Warriors as they have lost five out of their last seven games, losing six-straight games on the road after a promising start to the season. The team currently sit at ninth in the Western Conference with a 6-6 record.
Stephen Curry feeling alright after missing three games
Curry was under the weather during the Warriors’ trip last week to Milwaukee and Indianapolis which resulted him in missing three games. The Warriors suffered two losses to Sacramento and Denver while grabbing the win against the Pacers during his absence.
Curry’s return to the lineup will stabilize the lineup combinations the Warriors have gone through early in the season. Things did not go as planned against the defending champions but they will be hoping to redeem themselves against an in-form Victor Wembanyama and San Antonio Spurs.
When asked about his availability against the Spurs, Curry answered:
I am trying to. It was alright (about his illness). Anytime you have a cold, it takes a little bit to get back. But I felt great physically. Just trying to get your wind back was the biggest deal. I am happy with where I am now considering the week I have had.
Steph Curry is clearly still battling through a cold after his first game back

Off-Shooting night for Stephen Curry And The Warriors
It was not just defensively but the veteran struggled to find any rhythm offensively as well. While he was kept out for three games due to a bad cold, his return to the court resulted in a cold shooting night. The four-time NBA Champion shot 4/13 from the field and made only one three-point shot in five attempts with no assists to his name.

The rest of the team did not find their footing either as Jonathan Kuminga was the team’s top scorer with 13 points but turned the ball over five times. The turnovers have always been a concern with the Warriors style of play and it has come back to haunt them in their past few games.
A stern test awaits against the Spurs who have lost only two in 10 games but the Warriors will be looking to get things back on track as their star player despite his struggles last game averages 25 points per game so far.
