Stephen Curry, the USA basketball star, has endorsed Kamala Harris’s bid for the White House, saying he believes a successful US Olympic campaign could help unite a divided nation.

Curry, a four-time NBA champion, spoke warmly about Harris, a former California senator and longtime supporter of his Golden State Warriors. He praised her energy and optimism, where he said she represents the Bay Area and has been a big supporter of the team.

It’s a very interesting time for our country, for sure. The fact that President Biden gave the endorsement, Vice-President Harris is primed to bring her energy to this campaign and, hopefully, if she’s on the ticket, winning the election.
Steph Curry said to the reporters

Steph Curry and Harris have developed a friendly rapport over the years, based on their shared connections to the San Francisco area and aligned political views. The US Vice President also got an endorsement from Team USA Head Coach Steve Kerr as well.

Furthermore, Curry said he wants to give back to Harris, who visited the team at their Las Vegas training camp earlier this month. He will make his Olympic debut on Sunday, leading the US team against Serbia.

Stephen Curry reflects on past Olympic snubs, ready for debut in Paris

Steph Curry, set to make his Olympic debut in Paris on Sunday, has reflected on why he was left off the Team USA roster for the 2012 London Games. Curry acknowledged that he wasn’t on the level he needed to be, citing his ankle issues and lack of experience at the time.

In 2012, I didn't get picked because I wasn't on the level I needed to be. In '16, I was coming off the Finals run and I didn't feel I would get the rest I needed to get ready for the next season. And in 2020, it was a COVID year. And just that whole process, I don't remember what was going on family wise. But it wasn't a good time for me.

Curry also discussed why he didn’t participate in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, citing the need for rest after the 2016 Finals run and personal reasons during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He expressed admiration for his Warriors teammate Draymond Green, who won gold in both Olympics.

Now, Curry is excited to finally represent Team USA in the Olympics, starting in the group phase game against Serbia on Sunday. He has started in three of the team’s five exhibition games and is likely to be in the starting lineup for his debut.
