Team USA superstar Stephen Curry has the time of his life at Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony
For many members of the Team USA basketball team, this is their first full Olympics experience. Some were caught up in the restrictive environment of Tokyo Olympics. While others are first time Olympians even if they have represented the nation in other tournaments. Golden State Warriors superstar, Stephen Curry is one such star, and rightfully so, he was taking it all in at the Paris Olympics 2024.
The 4-time champion had a smile on his face the entire time. From the time they came down to their hotel lobby, up until the end of the Opening Ceremony. He was seen trolling LeBron James for being the only basketball athlete in the entire contingent to wear a separate suit. Then he took turns chatting up with the Team USA women’s players while on the floats. He also went around clicking pictures with teenage sensation Quincy Wilson, the entire USA women’s volleyball team, and other Olympians.
While the float was moving towards the Eiffel Tower, the Golden State Warriors superstar went around exchanging Team USA pins with different teams. He did not hesitate to wear an Olympic ring-themed pair of shades. He then passed it to WNBA 2-time champion A’ja Wilson.
This is after he went on a solo London exploration trip. It shows that the 2-time league MVP does not want to waste a chance to take in all that he can. Such experiences come very rarely in a lifetime. Therefore, he took his first Olympics experience in with a wide smile.
Stephen Curry still has to reach his NBA shooting efficiency
Now that the opening ceremony is over, it is back to the task at hand. That is to win a gold medal for the nation. Superstars have filled Team USA men’s basketball team. However, starter Stephen Curry and his recent inefficiency from the three is a cause for concern. That has led to the Americans falling back twice in their last two friendlies.
The same may not happen in the Paris Olympics 2024 as international teams know they all get one chance. Therefore, the level of competition will be far higher than how it was in the friendlies. Stephen Curry will have to shoot much better than his 4-16 record from the three in the last two friendlies. That 25% could come back to haunt the star-studded team.
More importantly, it is way below what fans of the game are accustomed to. Team USA built this super team to take advantage of the collective performance of all the stars. Stephen Curry, as part of the big 3, has to perform.
