Stephen Curry hoped this season, his rejuvenated Golden State Warriors would at least reach the Western Conference Finals. Since Jimmy Butler came in, the team has had a certain vigor about it that gives the impression they were ready to compete.

The four-time champion, however, was aware that the team still needs to play together a full season to become NBA title contenders. At age 37, Curry knows he does not have that much time left. If possible, he would love to win that fifth ring, which will place him near the top of basketball’s all-time greats.

At this juncture of his life, the two-time league MVP also knows that time is running down on his career. He might be contracted up until the 2026-27 NBA season, but he will be 39 years old by that time. Therefore, the end might be near.

Curry is trying to build a portfolio through the Curry Brand sneaker line, his alcohol brand, or even his investments in various companies. While speaking with CNBC Sports’ Alex Sherman, he laid out some of his plans for the future.

He (Michael Jordan) might be the only one in our generation who has sat in that seat and done it that way. The idea of being a part of an ownership group and the right opportunity… that’s something I’m excited about pursuing. It’s interesting. Obviously, as an active player, you can’t participate in that level until you’re done. So you’ll see me in the seat somewhere down the road.

The 11-time All-Star understands that current NBA franchise valuations might make it a dream. However, he knows there are ways to get into an investor group, much like how Magic Johnson and Alex Rodriguez have done.

Stephen Curry is already dipping into team ownership

One of the limitations of being an active player is that one cannot be a part of the ownership group of a team in both the leagues governed by the NBA. He can be a minority owner of a WNBA team, and has expressed his interest in doing so.

This season, Stephen Curry started his forays into team ownership by investing in the upstart Unrivaled League. He was a part of Unrivaled’s Series A investment round in December. The league secured more than $28 million in Series A funding in that round.

On top of it, there are rumors that he might be made a part of the ownership group of the very team he plays for. It is not a secret that the Akron native was instrumental in the Golden State Warriors’ valuation ballooning to $9 billion.

Therefore, it is likely that owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber might divest some of their shares to bring their most important superstar on board. That could be the easiest way in for the franchise stalwart, as he will then be a part-owner of both an NBA team as well as their WNBA team, the Golden State Valkyries.

Stephen Curry could also dip his hand in broadcasting

Even though the possibility of that rumor coming true is high, Stephen Curry wants to keep all options open. When Alex Sherman asked if the superstar point guard had any interest in joining an NBA broadcast team, he replied:

For sure. I would be more patient.

The 37-year-old noted how NFL GOAT Tom Brady seemingly shifted from the locker room to the broadcasting booth with FOX. However, he wants to take things easy and go over all his options before deciding on anything.
