Stephen Curry joins Wilt Chamberlain as only player to score 17,000 points for Warriors in loss to Celtics
Stephen Curry
With Marcus Smart, not playing today, Boston Celtics was led by their marquee player Jayson Tatum who was impressive throughout the court. Tatum scored 27 points and picked up the offensive slack for Boston as well. With Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry is hot-red form yet again with his 38 points. It became difficult for Celtics to contain him. Curry became the only player to join Wilt Chamberlain to score 17,000 for the franchise.
In the dying seconds of the game Andrew Wiggins layup made it a 3-point game. After which Tatum converted a pair of free-throws to set some margin for the Warriors to cover. Leading to the last seconds, Stephen Curry missed his contested 3. The Boston Celtics ended the Warriors 3-game winning streak even though Curry seemed too hot to handle. Jaylen Brown scored a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Curry’s 3-pointer with 1:03 to go in the third quarter got his team within 81-80. He also had 11 rebounds, eight assists and three steals. The two-time MVP counted on his lesser-known supporting cast of Juan Toscano-Anderson and Kent Bazemore in a matchup of teams each missing a key player.
The Warriors’ already-depleted frontcourt rotation took another hit Tuesday. Rookie No. 2 draft pick James Wiseman is sidelined with a sprained left wrist he hurt during a rout of Detroit on Saturday night. Golden State then lost starting center Kevon Looney to a sprained left ankle that kept him out during the second half.
Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he would consider Tatum at the point forward spot if Boston needed him as a ballhandler.
Stevens as per ESPN: “As a fan of the NBA, I missed watching Steph and Klay (Thompson) last year. They’re great for the game in every which way. As an opposing coach, I don’t mind when Steph goes out of the game.”
