Cameron Brink and Sydel Curry doubt their fighting instincts as they mull over their experiences on ‘Straight to Cam’. Regardless of their unfamiliarity, their mothers were another question. The WNBA star shared a hilarious story of Godbrother Stephen Curry’s mom, Sonya, fighting her mother.

Cameron Brink takes after her 6’5 mother when it comes to height, much to her godmother Sonya Curry’s disadvantage. The Los Angeles Sparks star recalled an amusing story of the two best friends engaged in a lopsided brawl.

The mom of two-time NBA MVP, despite being 5’5, tackled Michelle Brink in a one-sided victory. As Stephen Curry’s sister Sydel Curry narrated, the two got into an altercation, leading Sonya Curry to jump on the bed to match her height. Soon after, she grabbed Mother Brink from behind and hauled her with her weight. One thing that everybody agreed on was the irrefutable victory of Sonya Curry.

My mom’s five four 5’5-5’6 she’s short Shelly Cameron’s mom is 6’4…something happened and my mom was like shut sh and she got on the bed jumped off the bed grabbed shell around the neck from the behind.

Sydel Curry recalled

That was not the only evidence of Stephen Curry’s mom’s prowess in defending herself. Cameron Brink went ahead to share with her audience another instance involving the three Virginia Tech alumni. The WNBA star’s mom and the NBA sensation’s parents went out dancing at the Marriott when the former bumped into somebody.

Things soon escalated, engaging Father Curry in a fist fight, only for Mother Curry to join in while she was pregnant with Stephen Curry. The duo cackled, imagining the insanity of the moment. Cameron Brink and Stephen Curry’s mothers have been friends for over 40 years since becoming roommates in college.

Their fathers are reported to be basketball teammates at the same college. While they do not share any blood relation, they have remained close-knit since the beginning. Notably, both Brink and Curry’s parents are Godparents to each other. Cameron Brink has grown up with the Currys, taking up many of her interests, including basketball, from them.

Stephen Curry’s mom reflects on him competing against brother in the NBA

In a recent matchup, Stephen Curry went up against his brother Seth Curry as the NBA siblings played for the Golden State Warriors and the Charlotte Hornets. The Spectrum Centre was a crowded affair as the audience waited to see who would come out triumphant.

However, the siblings’ mother, Sonya Curry, couldn’t care less about the outcome, considering the ‘win-win’ situation for her. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the mother of three reflected on the fixture.

Sonya Curry’s post featured a family picture from the event with a wholesome caption. She expressed of the time as marvellous considering the “Curry men showdown”. Regardless of the outcome, she was bound to not lose.

The match was also a notable moment for the Curry family to get together. This was not the first time Mother Curry had made headlines for making it to her sons’ games. In a couple of games prior, when Steph made his season high 56, he reached out to Sonya to gift his game-worn jersey in a memorable moment.

Ultimately, the audience watched the Warriors knock the Hornets out with a 119-101. While Steph Curry, as usual, was a phenomenon on the court, Seth Curry failed to make a lasting impact. The former contributed 21 points to the victory, contrary to the latter’s one rebound. Notably, Steph Curry has long been in the game with more experience in the NBA than his brother, whereas Seth Curry joined the Hornets in 2024.
