Team USA came out winners against France in the finals of the men’s basketball event at the 2024 Olympics. After their victory in Paris last night, American fans have gone wild and taken to massive celebrations. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry seemed to be celebrating the win with a subtle dig aimed at the French fans.
A video going viral on social media showed Curry wearing a custom jumper right after their game against Team France. In the clip, the words “Nuit, Nuit” could be seen displayed at the front of the hoodie. When the NBA star was asked by Rachel Nichols what he has to say about it, Stephen Curry opened up:
Oh nuit nuit, and in France, we say that instead of night night, so I don't know what else to say.Stephen Curry told Rachel Nichols
Curry’s memorable celebration, called the “night night” gesture, perfectly wrapped up the win for Team USA yesterday. And from the looks of it, he then decided to broadcast it to the French fans in their native language. France lost to the USA during the finals of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and are once again on the losing end, this time on home soil.
Throughout the game against France, the United States basketball team faced tough competition from Victor Wembanyama and his teammates. However, “Chef Curry” as he’s fondly called, rose up to the occasion and helped the team to deny their opponents a taste of victory.
Stephen Curry hailed for putting up ‘greatest’ Olympics basketball performances
With Stephen Curry playing a pivotal role in the demolition of Serbia, and now in the 98-87 defeat of their French counterparts at the finals, it’s not hard to see why he’s overjoyed at winning the gold medal. The 36-year-old led the team with 24 points, including 8 three-pointers. And that’s also when you consider it’s his first ever Olympics outing in his career.
Basketball fans seem to think he may just have given the world some of the greatest ever performances by any player in the Olympics. In the semifinals against Nikola Jokic and Serbia, he led the team with 36 points and was the game’s MVP. Furthermore, against Team France, he hit eight 3-pointers from 12 attempts. Likewise, against the Serbians, he hit nine 3-pointers from 14.
Following a phenomenal display against the host nation, Team USA stars will be happy that they successfully retained the Olympic gold, despite stiff competition. The latest win makes it five consecutive gold medals for the USA, and the first ever for Stephen Curry on his debut Olympics outing.
