Usually, players on the wrong side of their 30s are not synonymous with greatness. Maybe LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant are exceptions to that rule.
The Golden State Warriors guard could not end his 2024-25 season on his terms after suffering a hamstring injury in the playoffs. This time, it seems he is determined to make up for it.
Curry helped his team get the one-over the Los Angeles Lakers at their home on opening night. James wasn’t playing due to injury, and the away team capitalized on it, using their leading scorer’s late 3-pointer to end any chances of a Lakers comeback.
Heading into the 3rd day of the season, Warriors fans packed Chase Center to help their players win their first game at home. Curry could not do much in the 1st half, but had help from his teammates who kept it close.
In the 2nd, he took off, scoring 10 straight points to give his team the boost it needed to counter Aaron Gordon‘s stellar night. But the latter was not giving up and helped his team take a decent lead with less than 4 minutes to go.
The Warriors responded, and their star point guard capped the run with a game-tying 3-pointer. Gordon wasn’t done, and with less than 30 seconds to go, he scored his 10th shot from long range to give the Nuggets the lead.

When jogging back to the other end, Stephen Curry zipped a dagger from the logo, which seemed to have broken their opponents. In overtime, he continued his shooting, and with some help from his teammates, the Warriors won the game 137-131.
Fans go berserk watching Stephen Curry dominate
Stephen Curry ended up scoring 35 of his 42 points in the 2nd half and overtime. It was the kind of late-game flurry that left fans speechless. They were left in awe of the superstar’s abilities even at 37 years old.
They saw a player who shed his first-half difficulties to come up big when it mattered. Those clutch shots undermined Aaron Gordon’s 50-point effort, leaving fans reeling at the state of competition in the NBA. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors are gunning for their 5th title of the past decade. If he can keep this streak going, there will be little doubt in this veteran squad’s ability to crown itself as champions.
Draymond Green heaps praise on Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry scored 16 straight points for the Warriors over the last 5 minutes of regulation and the first minute of overtime. That is as clutch as a player can be, and Draymond Green had nothing but praise for his teammate.

He loves the moment. The bigger the moment, the more he rises. He’s a quiet guy… But he loves the show. Anytime there’s a show to be put on, he’s gonna do it. He did that tonight in a major way.
Draymond Green said
This answer seems to indicate that the all-time leader in 3-point shots loves to play on the big stage. The brighter the lights, the better he is. If anything, he has given enough glimpses of that in the NBA.
In the final 5 minutes of regulation and into the first minute of OT, Steph had all 16 points for the Warriors.

He also gave Paris Olympics fans a show in the semifinals and the gold medal game. Now, he seems to be driven to do it again back home so that his team can shine.
