CM Punk has admittedly been a ‘Stone Cold’ guy his entire career. The Best in the World’s early memories of his Steve Austin fandom can be traced back to a photo he was lucky enough to get clicked with The Rattlesnake circa the 1990s. The WWE HOF’er recently chatted with Adrian Hernandez and talked about that particular snapshot.

Austin claimed that he and Punk have been longtime friends. Acknowledging that the Chicagoan has already extolled him enough, the 60-year-old didn’t shy away from saying that he’s a fan of his work as well. Stone Cold lauded Punk’s mic work, which could light anybody up, added Austin.

The two men continue to respect each other but don’t talk as often, as quoted in an admission by Steve Austin. The latter, however, affirmed that they do text every now and then. One public example of this is the night Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series in 2023. The Second City Saint posted a screenshot of his DMs with Austin.

The Attitude Era great deemed the crowd pop that Punk received at the Allstate Arena as probably the loudest he’s ever heard. Shortly after the 46-year-old was back in the mix with WWE, putting a decade-old fallout to rest, optimism grew within the company about a potential showdown between him and Austin.

Fightful reported that the idea was broached. However, with over a year removed, the possibility of it happening has totally fizzled down. The Texas Rattlesnake recently underwent a knee replacement surgery, and he’s yet to recover from it.

Will CM Punk get past Seth Rollins once and for all on Raw?

CM Punk is set for an epic showdown on Raw this week. Tonight, live from Madison Square Garden, the former AEW star will lock horns with Seth Rollins in a steel cage match. They’ve slandered each other enough to earn the rightful spot they’re in.

Back on January 6, Punk got the better of Rollins in what was their first match since 2013. The men at loggerheads stole the show and gave Raw’s Netflix debut a memorable ending. Just when it appeared as if they’d parted ways, tensions escalated between them at the Elimination Chamber earlier this month.

Punk temporarily aligned himself with John Cena to get rid of The Visionary. It was down to Punk and Cena. Right at the end, Seth curb-stomped his arch rival through ring ropes onto steel. It allowed John to lock Punk up in an STF. Despite commendable resilience, The Voice of the Voiceless passed out.

While Rollins fell short in his attempt, he made sure to crush Punk’s WrestleMania 41 dreams to gain whatever sadistic pleasure he was looking for. They’re now set to throw it down on Raw within the confines of a steel cage.
