Team USA head coach Steve Kerr has been making the headlines lately after recent comments from his former Chicago Bulls teammate, Denis Rodman. Notably, Rodman seemed to criticize Kerr’s coaching ability when asked about Kerr coaching the national side ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This take was quite unusual from Rodman and gathered much attention from the NBA community. Interestingly, Rodman was recently questioned about whether his Chicago Bulls teammate Kerr had expressed any interest in becoming an elite NBA coach while they were players. Rodman’s answer took everyone by surprise.

Kerr aint coaching sh**. He was just sitting there watching them kids shoot. Kerr ain't doing a damn thing.

Nowadays, it can be difficult to determine whether Rodman is being sarcastic at times. He is among the most well-known athletes to have ever set foot in the sports world. But he and Kerr had been teammates with the Bulls for three seasons, winning three NBA titles together. In addition, Kerr has been one of the most consistent coaches in the NBA over the years, which raises a lot of questions about Rodman’s recent take on Kerr.

From 2014, he has guided the Golden State Warriors to six NBA Finals appearances and has delivered four titles. In addition, Kerr is the only coach in history to have three straight seasons of at least 67 wins. He’ll serve as the head coach of the USA side in Paris, where they are hoping to capture a gold medal for the 5th time.

Steve Kerr makes clear request from Team USA and its players

Team USA and their head coach Steve Kerr have been preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics over the last month, playing exhibition matches and winning all of them. However, Kerr is still not satisfied with his players’ performances and has made a clear request from his side and their fans before the decorated tournament commences.

That's what today is about. It's the reminder. It's time. We're here, So it's got to be 40 minutes of force and attention and focus, and we can't let teams outplay us effort- and energy-wise like we did the other night against Germany, like we did against South Sudan.

In particular, Kerr thought the squad lacked depth in both of these games and played slowly. The extra possessions were a big reason why Germany was outperforming the US in particular when it came to loose balls. It now remains to be seen how Kerr and his Team USA side will perform in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
