“It’s going to be communism!” Steve Kerr gives political analogy for Warriors’ start to season
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expected to experiment after Stephen Curry's injury led to their first loss of season.
Golden State Warriors have a net value of $9.14 billion
Entering this NBA season, the Golden State Warriors knew the task at hand. They could not land either of their two top superstar targets in the offseason leaving the roster looking not as good as the other NBA title contenders. But with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green still leading the charge, head coach Steve Kerr can do a lot with what he has.
The franchise has started off this season well, winning their first two games on the back of elite ball movement. That ball movement saw a plethora of players ending up with double-digit scores. But they will need games to get into the offensive rhythm where, if need be, the likes of Stephen Curry can take it easy.
Their first two wins were against average teams where their offensive firepower saw them winning by 38.5 points on an average. But that lights out display came to a halt tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. When asked about the loss at the post-game press conference, Steve Kerr summed up their situation.
He pointed to the fact that prior to this loss, people were amazed by the Golden State Warriors and their offense. But now after one loss, everyone will ask questions, pointing to the reference to communism.
Kerr mentioned that the season is far from over and fans can expect a lot of changes, which could indicate that he could be experimenting with his lineups.
Steve Kerr gets first loss of season as Golden State Warriors lose Stephen Curry midway
Steve Kerr has maintained the same starting five in the first three games. They won the first two convincingly, therefore there was no suggestion to change what was not broken. But Stephen Curry rolled his ankle late in the third quarter that changed the dynamic of the game.
The Golden State Warriors were unable to stage rallies on the back of the superstar’s shooting. The rest of the starters and the bench tried to hang on, but the Los Angeles Clippers were just too strong. They ended up losing their first game of the season, but more importantly, have a more important concern waiting in the medical room.
With age catching up with his two leading players, Kerr has to experiment with the rest of the team. Only then can they mitigate close losses such as that of today. It will also do the Warriors a world of good if they could limit the pressure on Stephen Curry, as last season proved it was too much.
Less pressure, better contributions from the rest of the players, time management, etc., and the team could be a threat. A threat that could be difficult to stop when the two-time league MVP takes the step up come playoff time.
