Schedule variation has been a major part of NASCAR over the last few seasons. The main objectives of them were to make the schedule better and explore new markets, to further establish the sport. The LA Clash at the Colosseum, the unofficial season opener for the last three seasons and the Chicago Street were some of the races introduced to achieve these goals.
The upcoming 2025 season will also see two major changes to the schedule, along with a traditional track losing playoff race. Bowman Grey would host the clash, and the Cup garage would also race at Mexico this season. Now NASCAR President Steve Phelps, while talking at the Race Industry Week, hosted by the RCACER, confirmed that the variation in race calendar is going to continue.
They are determined to exploring opportunities outside the US border as well as domestic races. He confirmed that NASCAR is looking into every possible venue to expand the sport.
Steve Phelps asserts NASCAR fans and media partners likes the change
During the same discussion earlier, Phelps pointed out that the coming race in Mexico is going to be a success as the Chicago Street race. He believes the racing fans as well as the media partners of the sport want this diversity in the series.
The comments from Steve Phelps confirms that NASCAR believes the changes in the Calander every year is good for the sport. There will be many more races coming and exiting the sport in the coming years, with expansion of NASCAR to new market as the primary goal.
