The latest episode of SmackDown witnessed a significant twist in the storyline of Cody Rhodes‘ next chapter. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis announced on last week’s episode of SmackDown that Logan Paul would challenge him, with both titles on the line. The American Nightmare even expressed his desire to become a double champion. However, the United States Champion threw a wrench in his plans.
Both superstars were supposed to sign the contract for their match, but Logan Paul refused to sign it. He ripped the contract apart and stated that he didn’t agree to put his U.S. title on the line against Cody Rhodes. The Maverick then whipped out a new contract that his lawyer made for him and asked The American Nightmare to sign it.
The 29-year-old star fired shots against his opponent and said that he hadn’t done anything to deserve the title shot. He mentioned his brother Jake Paul and his much-awaited fight against WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson in July. Enraged by the new stipulation, Rhodes signed the contract and made a statement by powerbombing one of Logan’s allies through the table.
After dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, Rhodes successfully defeated fellow Georgian AJ Styles to retain his title at Backlash. Meanwhile, Paul is coming off one of the greatest wins of his career over Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. It will be interesting to see whether The American Nightmare manages to defeat the unexpected adversary by dodging his shenanigans.
Booker T gave huge props to Logan Paul for his tenure in WWE
When Logan Paul made his first appearance in WWE, many fans weren’t happy and felt that he didn’t deserve to be there. However, with his dedication and performance in the ring, he not only impressed the fans but also earned the respect of his peers. Witnessing the success he has been achieving, Booker T showered The Maverick with heaps of praise.
While speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, he was severely impressed by how well Logan understood the wrestling business. King Booker stated that whenever he watched him wrestle, it felt like he had been wrestling for a long time. The Hall of Famer also praised how he knew how to go out and perform in front of a jam-packed crowd.
Logan Paul is not someone from this business, but it seems like, from a timing perspective, from knowing how to go out and perform on both ends, he’s that damn good. I give him big props.Booker T on Logan Paul via the Hall of Fame podcast [H/T : Fightful]
Upon being asked his thoughts on the match between him and Rhodes, Booker T said that the match would benefit both of them. While he called Rhodes a professional and trusted his ability to make Logan look like a superstar, he also said that a win against the U.S. Champion would only make him more credible as the world champion.
