WTA Stuttgart Open 2021: These are the top seeds in the women’s singles

Stuttgart Open like every other tournament on the ATP and WTA tour was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Held since 1978, the tournament is the oldest women’s indoor tournament in Europe. The event was part of the Tier II category from 1990 until 2008 and as of 2009 has been a Premier tournament on the WTA Tour. The singles champion receives prize money and a Porsche sports car. And hence the alternative name of Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

The tournament has been won by many former number ones and Grand Slam champions. Martina Navratilova holds the record for most singles wins at the event, with six titles between 1982 and 1992, in addition to eight doubles titles.

Petra Kvitova, the former World No.2 is the defending champion in this tournament. She might get some good competition from Naomi Osaka, given what she said in her recent interviews regarding her ambitions. It will be interesting to see if Kvitova takes a third Porsche home or will Osaka win her first Porsche.
