‘I think I would learn a lot,’ Sumit Nagal speaks on Nadal and Federer

Indian star Sumit Nagal is currently ranked 139th in the world and has shown promise over the years. He introduced himself to the world by winning the 2015 boys’ singles titles at Wimbledon.
He made headlines on the Men’s circuit when he took the first set of the Swiss maestro Roger Federer at the first round in US Open 2019. He lost the match 6-4,1-6,2-6,4-6 to Federer but showed glimpses of what he is capable of.

At the same tournament, he spoke about the Swiss 20-time grand slam champion.
He said: “You always watch him play on TV, you always watch him play US Open or Wimbledon, so those memories are always there.”

Sumit Nagal played another big match at the US Open in 2020, where he reached the second round of a Major for the first time. He lost to eventual champion Dominic Thiem, but not before giving another good account of his powerful forehand.
He speaks fondly of the big 3. has played only once against a Big 3 member – he suffered a first round loss to Roger Federer at the 2019 US Open. But the 23-year-old loves watching them in action, and he believes the sport needs players of their stature. He also said that he would really want to face Rafael Nadal someday.
He said: “I would really want to play Nadal one day. I think I would learn a lot from him.”
Nagal last played at the Zadar Challenger event where he bowed out of the Quarter-Finals to Nerman Fatic in three tight sets.
