Kendrick Lamar is preparing to bring his lyrical prowess and unmatched stage presence to the Superdome in New Orleans for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show. Fans can expect a performance that will surely humble the competition, as Lamar has hinted at sharing the stage with at least one special guest.
In a teaser released on Thursday (Jan. 23) through Apple Music, Lamar unveiled that his upcoming tourmate, SZA, will join him in “The Big Easy” on February 9. With a voice that’s truly all the stars, SZA’s presence promises to elevate an already monumental show. Together, they’re set to deliver a halftime performance that will resonate well beyond ctrl.

SZA, a former labelmate of Kendrick Lamar under Top Dawg Entertainment has collaborated previously as well. SZA had a guest appearance in Lamar’s recent album GNX and Lamar appeared in SZA’s “30 on 30” from her album Lana. She lent her vocals to several tracks, including “Gloria” and “Luther.” The latter prominently features samples from Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn’s classic, “If This World Were Mine.”
Kendrick Lamar and SZA are set to co-headline the highly anticipated 19-city Grand National Tour across North America this spring and summer. The tour kicks off on April 19 in Minneapolis and wraps up on June 18 in Washington, D.C., promising an unforgettable experience for fans. As for the NOLA gig, fans are already crossing the ‘t’s and dotting the ‘i’s with the potential set curated by Lamar and SZA.
Lil Wayne made peace with Kendrick Lamar after Super Bowl snub
As with every athlete, every musician dreams of a day when they conquer the stages of their hometown – looking down the streets they grew up on the way to the performance. Knowing that the people who saw them growing up, whom they saw while growing up could be in the audience or hearing the boom or the lights during the performance. Having said all that, It would have been a dream come true for Lil Wayne.
As Lamar revealed his guest star in SZA, Lil Wayne joining him has lowered in probability. There’s still an element of chance that the NFL would pull something unexpected near the Super Bowl to amp up the attention and vibes.
Amid the suspense and the despair over the initial snub, Lil Wayne has wished Lamar the best for the big day. “I’ve spoken to him, and I wish him all the best. I told him he better kill it,” Lil Wayne shared during his appearance on The Skip Bayless Show last month.
In the interview, he was responding to lyrics about him featured in “Wacced Out Murals,” a track from Lamar’s GNX album released in November 2024. In the song, Lamar had some lines referencing Lil Wayne and the Super Bowl snub. The 42-year-old artist from NOLA maintained that he had been hearing the song for the first time ever.
