Did Superman just settle the Tush Push debate? Kind of. Philly-raised actor David Corenswet claimed he is not replacing Jalen Hurts because he is the only athlete with a strength like a Kryptonian to convert quarterback sneaks every time.
By now, the entire world knows about Corenswet taking over the mantle of Superman in James Gunn’s retelling of the DC icon’s story. Even though Superman’s alter ego, Clark Kent, hails from Smallville, Kansas (well, he crash-landed there from space and was adopted by the Kent family), Corenswet is not a Chiefs fan.
Corenswet was born in Philadelphia and grew up supporting the Phillies and the Eagles. In a recent string of interviews before his big break movie, one reporter asked the 32-year-old whether Superman can convert on the Eagles’ Tush Push move. “I’d say Jalen Hurts,” David Corenswet replied.
From his point of view, the Tush Push looks far more technical than teammates pushing the quarterback for a first down.
There’s a lot more technique and organization involved in the mechanics and success of the Tush Push than meets the eye [so to speak], and I think Superman [Clark], he’d just end up tripping over his feet or something. I’d trust Jalen [with it]. Not that we know each other.
The early reviews of the Superman movie are quite promising. After portraying the ‘Man of Steel’ on the silver screen, Corenswet is set to star in a movie involving the NFL. He has been cast in the movie titled ‘Mr. Irrelevant.’ The title means the last player in the draft.

So, is he making a biopic on 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy? The Iowa State graduate’s claim to fame took place after he led the NFC West team to consecutive NFC Championship games and the 2023-24 Super Bowl.
The Eagles can breathe a sigh of relief because it’s not Purdy. Corenswet is set to play retired Giants running back John Tuggle, who was drafted in the 12th round (335th overall pick) in 1983.

During the offseason, a few NFL teams (Packers and Lions) tried their best to persuade the NFL to ban the Tush Push. However, the NFL refused to outlaw the move despite the claims that it increases the risk of players sustaining more injuries.

Retired Eagles center Jason Kelce, in one episode of Charles Barkley‘s The Steam Room, highlighted the reason behind teams wanting a ban on the Tush Push.
If you get low and drive forward, it’s really hard for the defense to stop it… big an advantage it is—essentially we’re saving ourselves a turnover, whether it’s a punt or whatever.

Hurts’ 6-foot-1, 223-pound body becomes a battering ram when the Eagles run the play. The 26-year-old has successfully scored 33 touchdowns (one yard or fewer) by using the quarterback sneak in the league.
Jalen Hurts led the Eagles to their second-ever Super Bowl win after he scored 40 points against the Chiefs in two and a half quarters in New Orleans. The Chiefs answered with a late flurry of 22 points but failed to string a comeback.
Hurts was named the Super Bowl MVP, while running back Saquon Barkley bagged the Offensive Player of the Year award. The league MVP went to Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
The Eagles kick off their title defense against divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.
