Ryan Garcia has been on a roller-coaster ride ever since the Devin Haney fight was announced. This included multiple failed negotiations, pre-fight antics, and now a positive drug test. He was able to defeat Devin Haney, which was an upset victory for most of the boxing community. However, Garcia’s victory came under question after he failed the drug test from the samples collected on April 19 and 20. After this, Garcia requested that a B-sample drug test be conducted to dispute this.
However, the B sample also showed signs of the banned substance known as Ostarine. KingRy continued to maintain his innocence and stated that he had never taken PEDs in his life. Subsequently, his legal team recently issued a statement in which they claimed that the supplements that Garcia took were contaminated with Ostarine. This prompted the supplement company to respond to these claims.

Garcia’s legal team tested two NutraBio supplements that the boxer consumed during his training camp. This was NutraBIO super carb raspberry lemonade and strawberry-flavored Body Health Perfect Amino. Both of these supplements showed signs of the banned substance, according to the report.
However, Mark Glazier, the CEO and founder of NutraBio, has claimed that this is untrue. In addition, Glazier mentioned his company’s policy of providing world-class, trustworthy supplements for athletes. As such, Glazier has taken these accusations seriously and plans on a proper investigation of his product.
NYSAC and WBC set to conduct a hearing for Ryan Garcia
At this point, Garcia is not out of hot water after his legal team’s statement about the supplement contamination. Before this, the accusation was about him taking steroids intentionally to win the fight. However, now their team has asserted that he might have unintentionally ingested the substances.
This, of course, does not change the fact that Ryan Garcia broke the rules. In addition, while the Garcia legal team blamed the NutraBio supplements, the VADA and the boxing community do not agree with this notion. As such, they believe that Garcia is solely responsible for what goes inside his body during training camp.
Hence, even if Garcia unintentionally consumes the PEDs, he will still have to face the consequences. This means that his victory over Haney will become a no-contest, or Garcia will be disqualified. In addition, Garcia’s boxing career’s future will be decided during a hearing conducted by the NYSAC and the WBC.
