IPL 2021: Twitter reacts as Suresh Raina announces return with excellent half-century
Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina announced his return to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a scintillating half-century against the Delhi Capitals (DC). The elegant batsman did not feature in last year’s tournament due to ‘personal reasons’. However, he made it clear that this season he was back, ready and raring to go. And he proved it on the field with a trademark knock.
Earlier, CSK had got off to a horror start as they lost both Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the Powerplay. The Men in Yellow then chose to promote Moeen Ali to No. 3 and held Raina back at No. 4. The two left-handers joined hands and upped the ante as the run-rate seemed to be going nowhere. They revived the innings and in fact, took the upper hand soon by smashing the DC spinners.
Ravichandran Ashwin was taken for six after six while Amit Mishra received the treatment as well. After Ali’s dismissal, Raina joined hands with Ambati Rayudu and kept striking the ball cleanly to reach his half-century. He was however, unfortunately run-out for 54.
Soon after his fifty, Twitter reacted and welcomed ‘Mr. IPL’ back.

Suresh Raina’s half-century came off just 32 balls and it contained all the ingredients of a trademark Raina half-century. This was how Twitter reacted to the same.
