Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav appeared to have resolved their on-field dispute after the team’s decisive victory over Pakistan. The two players came together for a hilarious reel to smooth over any ill feelings, even referencing a famous dialogue.

The Men in Blue secured a convincing 61-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan, in their third T20 World Cup group-stage clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ishan Kishan was the star of the match, as he scored a blistering 77 runs off 40 balls to help India to a competitive first-innings total of 175/7. Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy then took two wickets each to restrict Pakistan to 114 runs.

Despite the comfortable win, a tense post-match moment involving Kuldeep Yadav triggered rumors of friction within the Team India camp. Hardik Pandya and captain Suryakumar Yadav engaged in an animated spat with the 31-year-old spinner on the field immediately after Pakistan’s final wicket fell. As the Indian players lined up for the customary handshakes, Pandya made angry gestures toward Yadav, creating an awkward situation that required Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh to intervene.

The left-arm spinner was then seen being issued a stern warning by the Indian captain shortly after. It arose from a dropped catch by Kuldeep Yadav, in the final over of Pakistan’s chase. Kuldeep could not hold on to Shaheen Afridi‘s catch, as it slipped through his fingers and crossed the boundary line for a six. It left both Pandya and Surya dejected over the missed opportunity, with the former even directing some harsh words towards the fielder.

Clips of the flare-up immediately went viral on social media. However, to clear the air, Yadav shared a video on Instagram. It showed Kuldeep greeting his captain and then comically walking past without showing respect, while the caption read ‘Gussa chodh do bhai’ (Stop being angry brother). The two senior players also referenced a famous dialogue from the hugely popular Bollywood movie, Hera Pheri, pointing towards an end to any differences.

It was the left arm-spinner’s first appearance in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Kuldeep was brought into the playing XI against Pakistan in place of Arshdeep Singh, and he finished with notable figures of 1/14 in his three-over spell.

Suryakumar Yadav ties MS Dhoni’s captaincy record after dominant victory over Pakistan

It has been a remarkable journey for Suryakumar Yadav as India’s T20I captain since 2024, even since he took over the reins from Rohit Sharma. He guided the team to another historic win over Pakistan, this time in the 2026 T20 World Cup group-stages, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

After humiliating Pakistan by 61 runs, Suryakumar etched his name in the record books. The 35-year-old equaled MS Dhoni‘s record for the most consecutive wins by an Indian captain against Pakistan in T20Is. Both Yadav and Dhoni have won four straight games against the Men in Blue’s arch-rivals, with Yadav’s stint involving three 2025 Asia Cup victories as well, apart from the most recent WC triumph.

Dhoni achieved the feat by winning four T20Is against Pakistan from 2012 to 2016. Coming back to current T20I skipper Suryakumar, he dedicated India’s victory over Pakistan to the fans, and opined that the team played on expected lines. He lauded Ishan Kishan for his POTM display, while also praising Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah’s performances.

Sky also had a decent outing with the bat against Pakistan, scoring a crucial 32 runs off 29 balls, while navigating through the challenging middle-overs. In the T20 World Cup so far, the India skipper has recorded scores of 84*, 12, and 32, winning the POTM against USA.
