The Indian team showed depth and experience to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Pakistan in the final of the 2025 Asia Cup. It was a dream final for every cricket lover and the drama around it added more spice to the contest.
India was termed favorites, but Pakistan’s unpredictability always brought in a sense of doubt. With the Men in Blue starting on the back foot in both innings, made sure they stayed calm under pressure and clawed their way back to end the match on the right note.
Following their win, the Indian players and management refused to collect the trophy from Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also happens to be the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Indian team have boycotted any personal interaction with any Pakistani national in this Asia Cup, and they continued the same tradition in the trophy ceremony.
However, the playing squad and management didn’t stop any kind of post tournament win celebration and they celebrated rather unusually this time around. The players were standing at the podium with Suryakumar Yadav emulating what Rohit Sharma did at the 2024 T20 World Cup and coming from the side to join his team.

However, the unusual quirk in this was that Suryakumar Yadav was approaching the team with an imaginary trophy. He acted as if he had the trophy in his hand and slowly approached as the whole team jumped in celebration once their captain arrived.
There was a mini trophy that was visible in Abhishek Sharma‘s hands, but that was the one he had won for being the player of the tournament. The Indian didn’t let the celebrations die down and proved to everyone that the win was more important for the team than the trophy.
Pakistan blow advantage in both innings to show massive mental toughness gap between the two teams
India won their 9th Asia Cup, but by no means was the final a walk in the park. It was a hard earned victory which tested the mental strength of the Indian players in both innings of the match. Pakistan batting first were cruising at 113/1 showing no signs of slowing down and looked like reaching 200.

However, a turnaround from the Indian spinners in the middle order shifted the course of the match in a flash as Pakistan surprisingly lost 9 wickets for just 33 runs. From 113/1, the team got bowled out for just 146.
Despite the collapse with the bat, the Pakistan team showed character with the ball. Shaheen Afridi looked at his very best and was brilliantly accompanied by Faheem Ashraf. The pace duo reduced India to 20/3 inside 4 overs.
Pakistan looked like they had a big chance at that point of time but as the game went forward, they let their grip slip. The team could not mentally compete with India and allowed Tilak Varma to stitch crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube.
Varma was the star of the show with his unbeaten 69 in 53 balls. The match is believed to have shifted in India’s favor when Haris Rauf leaked 17 runs in the 15th over. India needed 64 runs in 6 overs prior to that which came down to just 47 in 5 overs.
This game was a tougher ask for India than the previous two matches against the Men in Green but once again proved that India mentally are much stronger than Pakistan who let a lead slip twice. Pakistan may have proved to the world that they are the second-best team in Asia. However, the fact still remains that if not skillfully, there is a massive gap between them and India in clutch moments.
