IPL 2021: Suryakumar Yadav hits a huge six to get to fifty; Hardik Pandya reacts in awe

Hardik Pandya's reaction

Mumbai Indians (MI) were put in to bat today by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the defending champions began their road to recovery from the loss in the first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). It has almost become tradition for MI to lose their first match before sparking a remarkable comeback and that is exactly they would be after in today’s match and the rest of the tournament as well.

MI had Quinton de Kock returning today in place of Chris Lynn despite the fact that the latter had top-scored in the previous match. The South African got out cheaply in the Powerplay as KKR’s ploy to attack him with spinners from both ends worked wonders with Varun Chakravarthy having him caught at long-on by Rahul Tripathi. It was then that Suryakumar Yadav walked in to bat.

Suryakumar Yadav began briskly by hitting Harbhajan Singh for three fours in an over. He then slowed down a bit as MI cantered to a score of 42 in the Powerplay. The No. 3 batsman then opened up and started finding the gaps at will. He got into his element even as Rohit Sharma anchored the innings from the other end. It was an excellent exhibition of hitting as Surya got to his fifty in just 33 balls.

The shot to get to his fifty was a stunning one as he flicked Pat Cummins over square leg in a helicopter shot-esque motion. The ball travelled 99 meters and Hardik Pandya who was in the dugout was in awe of the shot as he was caught on camera reacting to the same.
