India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav has had a year of contrasting results with the bat. Having played a total of 25 T20 matches this year his stats in the 9 international matches are completely opposite to the 16 matches he played in the Indian Premier League.
In his 9 matches for India this year Suryakumar Yadav has been seen struggling as he has accumulated only 87 runs at a strike rate of 112.98 and a dismal average of just 12.42. His highest score this year in international cricket has been the 47 not out he scored against archrivals Pakistan.
However, his IPL numbers this year have been simply outstanding. In 16 innings Yadav stacked up 717 runs at an average of 65.18 and an unmatched strike rate of 167.91. He also created a record this season by scoring at least 25 runs in each of his outings in the IPL making him reach unreal levels of consistency.

His inability to convert his IPL form into international cricket hasn’t bothered the Indian team a lot as of now because of the all-round ability and form of the other players.
However, being the captain of the side, Yadav would love to bring in some big scores under his belt as India enter the latter stages of the Asia Cup. With the T20 World Cup coming up next year, India would hope that Yadav can bring out his best as he occupies the crucial number 4 position in the batting line up.
Suryakumar Yadav gets into trouble as ICC looks into post-match comments made by Indian Captain
Suryakumar Yadav has found himself in some trouble as ICC got involved in another matter regarding the India vs. Pakistan game. Post the group stage match between India and Pakistan, the Indian captain in his post-match talk had mentioned about dedicating the victory over Pakistan to all those who unfortunately lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack, back in April this year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board unimpressive of the comments made by the Indian captain lodged a complaint towards him stating that such non-cricket controversial statements should not be made on the cricket field.

ICC has accepted PCB’s complaint and are currently looking into the matter which could be a problem for the Indian captain. According to a report by Dainik Jagran, West Indian match referee Richie Richardson has sent an email to the Indian team informing them about the same.
The ICC has asked me to handle two reports lodged by the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding comments made by your captain, Suryakumar Yadav, during the presentation and post-match press conference after the India vs Pakistan match on September 14 2025. After examining the full reports and reviewing the evidence, I have concluded that a charge should be brought against Suryakumar Yadav for conduct that brings the game into dispute by making inappropriate comments, which are detrimental to the interest of the game.

The sport over the years has not accepted any such political statement or gesture by any of the players. Players like Usman Khawaja and Moeen Ali have been sanctioned in the past for sporting certain political ideas on the field.
If the rule has to stay true, the Indian captain could be facing some serious consequences here. Further the report states that the Indian captain can either accept the charge or face a formal hearing which will include the ICC hearing featuring a BCCI and a PCB representative.
