When the Caesars Superdome jumbotron showed Taylor Swift sitting in the VIP lounge with her family and friends Ice Spice and Ashley Avignone ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs versus Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday (February 9), the stadium reverberated with boos. Serena Williams urged Swift to simply ignore the crowd.

Swift looked confused and was seemingly taken aback by the crowd’s reaction, and as a response, she simply gave a side-eye which has since gone viral. Her devoted followers, the ‘Swifties’, wasted no time to come out in support of the singer-songwriter.

The 35-year-old American pop star has also found a supporter in Williams.

In an interview last year, Williams had revealed that both she and her daughter Olympia Ohanian (7) are huge fans of Swift. Williams, who has also dubbed herself a ‘Swiftie’ and attended Swift’s concert in Miami last year, urged her to pay no heed to the crowd following the Super Bowl.

I love you @taylorswift dont listen to those booo!!

The boos probably had come from the Eagles’ fans or from the Donald Trump supporters, who loudly cheered for the US President when he appeared on the jumbotron. Swift had endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 US Presidential Elections.

Swift attended the Super Bowl for the second time, following last year’s showpiece event, to cheer for boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. And though the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers last year, this year they fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 22–40.

Serena Williams makes cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show

Probably no one had expected Serena Williams to stun the crowd during the Super Bowl halftime during Kendrick Lamar‘s Grammy-winning Drake diss track, ‘Not Like Us’. Her dancing to Lamar’s song, taking a jab at Drake, made the moment even more memorable.

Williams, who closed the most remarkable chapter of her life in 2022 after bagging 23 Singles Grand Slam titles, seized the moment with her Crip Walk in front of the exuberant football crowd. After her brief but grand performance, Williams took to social media and made a humorous remark.

Man I did not crip walk like that at Wimbledon, I would have been fined.

Serena Williams said

Williams had performed the Crip Walk after beating Maria Sharapova to clinch the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, and it had sparked controversy. Like Lamar, the 43-year-old too grew up in Compton, California, and both are not fans of Drake. Williams and Drake were rumored to have been in a relationship and but it came to an end soon.

Drake had referenced the former World No.1 in his 2013 song ‘Worst Behavior’ and 2022 song ‘Middle of the Ocean’ in which he took a dig at her husband Alexis Ohanian. Lamar, in his ‘Not Like US’ diss track lyrics, voiced his support for Williams with his ‘better not speak on Serena’.
