“It is an assault of women’s sport”: Joe Rogan attacks transgender swimmer Lia Thomas

Lia Thomas

The recent controversy on Lia Thomas has made quite the headlines this season, with her participation and win in the NCAA Championship ending in dissatisfaction and disaster for everyone.

Lia Thomas is a transgender swimmer who took gold in the women’s 500-yard freestyle event. Her win was not well received, as she was booed off the stage while accepting the award. Since then several athletes have written a letter to the governing body of the NCAA, calling out the unfairness of the situation. She has been criticised by several athletes and individuals alike, as she is believed to have an inherent advantage due to her hormones.

Joe Rogan publicly criticised Lia Thomas on his podcast, saying that “What it is now is an assault on women’s sports. And the idea that anyone would think it’s fair that someone who was number 4-6-2 as a man, 462 in the nation, is number 1 as a women a year later.”

Joe Rogan, like several others, believes that Thomas has an inherent advantage is women’s swimming races. Thomas did not have the same results in the men’s category, which is why several individuals resent her. Rogan said that there’s a reason why there is a difference between women’s and men’s category.

“That might be the woke straw that breaks society’s camel’s back,” Rogan was honest. “It’s not fair, no matter what anybody says,” he continued according to financialworld.com. “There’s this nonsense idea of, like ‘Well, there’s outliers.’ There are outliers and then there are biological males”.
