“He is a special athlete”: 15-year-old prodigy Thomas Heilman trailing second only to Michael Phelps

15-year-old Thomas Heilman has stunned the world, surpassing and succeeding all expectations from the youngster at the 2022 US International Team Trials on Tuesday.

Heilman recently aged out of the 13-14 year old age category. He has rewritten numerous National Age Group Records, and dropped nearly 2 seconds in the men’s 200m butterfly event to become the second fastest 15-year-old in US history, just behind the legendary Michael Phelps.

Recently in the 200m butterfly event, Heilman registered a blistering time of 1:58.01 in the men’s 200 butterfly preliminaries. He now has the second fastest time in the history of the age group, behind 1:57.48 set by Phelps– the time which helped him make the Olympics team.

According to swimswam.com, Heilman is now the second fastest 15-year-old in the history, despite him just turning of age two months ago. Great things are set in stone for the youngster, who shows amazing potential.
