“My body is done”: Caeleb Dressel opens up about struggles after Tokyo Olympics

The pressures of a high level athlete performing at the Olympics are known to very few. Among those is swimmer and Olympic Champion Caeleb Dressel, who recently opened up about his struggles.
The pressures of living up to his past record and his performance have taken quite the toll on the athlete. Dressel however, has opened up about his struggles after the Tokyo Olympics, a brave stance to take. Dressel shared an excerpt from his diary leading up to the Tokyo Olympics. “Yep. That’s May 6th. Oh, so that’s like a month out from Trials. Yeah, ‘F**k me, f**king terrible. My body is done.”

Growing up in the national spotlight, Dressel also talked about the struggles he faced with bouts of panic attacks. He talked about how he removed any excessive and unnecessary items from his life to achieve minimalism just before his trials. Caeleb recently just swam the fastest 50m of the year at 21.29s at the Philip 66 swim trials.
Slowly healing, Dressel has been vulnerable in the past as well regarding the challenges he faced at the Olympics. He said that he often did not meet his Tokyo goals, and called himself unfair for not doing so well. Yet, he intends to come back stronger, and his journey is not over yet.
