Michael Phelps gets emotional over best friend Ray Lewis’ charged up Hall of Fame speech

Michael Phelps and Ray Lewis
Michael Phelps has had a truly astounding career. What he has achieved in terms of sporting brilliance only a few can boast. All this glory has a bit of downside too though, as it makes it a touch harder for him to confide in someone who has gone through somewhat the same pressure and other scenarios.
Sportsman spirit and the brotherly love between athletes and players of all sorts have always done the rounds, and this is what helped Phelps, who found support in his fellow Baltimore native NFL legend – Ray Lewis.
Michael Phelps and Ray Lewis consider each other to be lifelong friends

Michael Phelps retired after the 2012 London Olympics. When he announced in 2014 that he’ll come out of retirement to have another crack at the Olympics to be held in Rio 2016, no one anticipated the performance that he pulled off. 5 Golds and a Silver before finally hanging his boots for good was a marvelous feat for the veteran.
“When you get ready to retire,” Ray Lewis said, “everybody says, ‘Are you gonna miss it?’ So I’ve talked to Michael about that a lot. Told him, ‘Enjoy this frickin’ ride! It’s not sad! It’s the most wonderful thing ever!”
No one wants the legends to retire or stop doing the one thing which has inspired millions. If there was a clock to turn back time, these legends would entertain forever. No one can cheat ‘father time, but a few come close. However, time has a toll on everyone.
The Baltimore Bullet as he’s famously nicknamed texted Ray Lewis after his final race. After the stellar performance at Rio, no one wanted him to retire. But Lewis was of a different mind. “He’s ready for life,” he said. “Michael is a simple guy with crazy drive. And as a man, now he wants to be free.”
Michael Phelps always had an ear to Lewis’ advice and would do god to abide by it. Phelps and Ray Lewis forged a special bond in 2012. Phelps considers the NFL legend his family. He stated, “Ray has become a brother from another mother for me.”
Phelps shared his insight on the conversation he had with Lewis before he took to the swimming area one last time. “I was talking to Ray Lewis earlier today. I know he’s watching. And we just had a great talk,” a teary-eyed Phelps said. “It’s not the end of a career, it’s the beginning of a new journey. And I’m just looking forward to that.”
