Profile Information
Full Name | Brian Ortega |
American mixed martial artist Brian Martin Ortega was born on February 21, 1991. He competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight class. First-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt holder Ortega has been a professional fighter for more than 13 years. He has competed in various leagues, including the RFA, where he held the featherweight title. He was the first person to defeat Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 in 2018. Brian Ortega has had significant professional setbacks despite his achievements. At UFC 266, Ortega competed against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski but was defeated by a unanimous decision. He lost a second opportunity to win a UFC belt with this one.
Ortega had a difficult road to professional fighting. He was involved in gang activity and grew up in a tough area of Los Angeles before discovering martial arts. However, he has used his platform as a professional fighter to support his neighborhood by starting a charity that helps at-risk children.
Regardless of the ups and downs in his career, Brian Ortega is one of the most exciting fighters on the UFC’s roster. He has an amazing set of grappling skills and a unique fighting style. Ortega’s talent has helped him prove himself as a formidable contender in the featherweight division, even though he missed his last chance at a UFC title.
