Profile Information

Full Name Dan Hooker

Dan Hooker is a New Zealand-born professional mixed martial artist who competes in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The ‘Hangman’ is known for being fearless and taking up fights regardless of who he is fighting and when the fight is. In 2009, Hooker made his professional MMA debut, and he rapidly became known as a rising talent on the Australian and New Zealand regional MMA scene. Before joining the UFC in 2014, he compiled an amazing record of 16 victories and seven defeats.

His UFC debut was also amazing, as he defeated Ian Entwistle via TKO. His early career in the UFC was inconsistent, as the fighter failed to build major momentum.

Dan Hooker has amassed a strong record against some of the best lightweight competitors since joining the UFC. Among others, he has won noteworthy victories over Gilbert Burns, James Vick, Al Iaquinta, and Paul Felder.

His fight with Dustin Poirier in 2020 was the fight of the year, as both fighters went on an absolute war for five rounds. Hooker has a 21-21 record in his professional career. Despite his recent losses, he is still regarded as one of the best fighters on the UFC roster.
