Full Name Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso is a Spanish racing driver who is set to compete for the Aston Martin Formula 1 team in 2023. He was born in Oviedo, Spain, on 29 July 1981. His first introduction to racing was when his father, José Luis, built a kart for his sister, Lorena, but she wasn’t interested in karting. So, Alonso got the kart, and the rest is, as they say, history.

When did Fernando Alonso join Formula 1?

Fernando Alonso made his Formula 1 debut with Minardi, back at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix. The next season, he moved to Renault and was promoted to the main lineup, partnering with Jarno Trulli, in 2003. That same year, he won his first race in Hungary – since then, he was won 31 more races and 2 world championships.

What are Fernando Alonso’s achievements?

Fernando Alonso has won 32 races in Formula 1, with his last win coming all the way back in 2013 at his home Spanish Grand Prix. He’s also taken 22 pole positions, and finished on the podium 98 times. All this has helped him along to win two world championships, both with Renault, in 2005 and 2006. However, there is a general feeling among fans that he could have won more – as he finished second three more times. Thrice, he lost the world championship by less than 5 points [2008 (when he finished third, level on points with Lewis Hamilton), 2010, 2012].
